I can still here my father calling us to dinner by yelling, "Let's eat!" We would hurry to the table to get our fill.
Feeding of the 5000
John 6:5 “When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” 6 He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.
7 Philip answered him, “It would take more than half a year’s wages to buy enough bread for each one to have a bite!”
Philip saw a problem, how often are we immediately overwhelmed by our circumstances. “God, I don’t see a way. This is more than I can face.” God says back to you, “That’s true child, it has always been this way.”
Verse 8&9 “Another of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, spoke up, “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”
Andrew saw the opportunity
The most confounding part of this story, “here are some bread and fish”.
We say to ourselves, “God this is what’s happening and all I have to offer. Here you go, I am depending on you to show up.”
This is so much deeper than some concept of being optimistic. This is an abiding trust that is reflected in bringing these few resources to the master. He could have kept it to himself and at least he would have something to eat. How much do you trust God? It is reflected in your willingness to offer whatever resources you possess. This is where peace is found, “Here is what I have Jesus. It’s all I’ve got, but you are enough”.
How do we get to this place of surrender and peace?
What are you feeding your soul?
6:57 “Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.”
Is what you are feeding your soul providing the spiritual nourishment you need?
Spend time in his word, pray and he will give you rest
Make this your prayer:
Psalm 141
1 “I call to you, Lord, come quickly to me; hear me when I call to you.”
8 “But my eyes are fixed on you, Sovereign Lord; in you I take refuge”

I'm being reminded every day that He has us! He's got the whole world in His hands
