Reading: Luke 20-21 & Psalm 138 Cast your cares on him because he cares for you!

Matt Hearn

The tension and opposition to Jesus is growing. The religious leaders are trying to trick him into something they use against him. He always manages to turn the questions against them. Even as this tension mounts his concern is for the welfare of his disciples. He sees you and the tension and stress you are feeling. He cares for you. We are facing hardship right now. I found his words encouraging to me. I hope you find comfort and hope too.

Luke 21:“When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified.”11 there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and plagues.”

What do we do? We look to Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith. Jesus is not surprised when these things happen. He wants us to know and to be prepared.

Luke 21 13 “This will give you an opportunity to testify.”

When hard times come, the church should be a light in dark times and places. Your peace will point people to the hope we find in the gospel.

Luke 21 18 But not a hair of your head will perish.19 By your endurance you will gain your souls.”

God is with us, not even a hair on your head will parish. Keep alert, don’t give up and find strength in the promises of God.

I am again encouraged when I read the Psalms and remember how good God is and how much he loves us.

Psalm 138

I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness; for you have exalted your name and your word above everything. On the day I called, you answered me, you increased my strength of soul.

For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly;Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve me against the wrath of my enemies; you stretch out your hand, and your right hand delivers me.

The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.

God is faithful and will keep his promises. He loves you and sees you in your distress. He preserves us and delivers us. May your find strength and comfort today in his presence and promises. God Bless!
