In Luke 5, Jesus begins his ministry. He calls the disciples, and strange things begin to happen.
In Luke 5:26 we see that “Amazement seized all of them, and they glorified God and were filled with awe, saying, ‘We have seen strange things today.’”
The disciples did indeed see some strange things—a fishing miracle, a leper healed and a paralyzed man walked. When you spend time with Jesus you do indeed see some “strange things.” Take a minute and think of some strange and wonderful things God has done in your life. Now think of the ways God has used you to be a blessing to others. I know it is amazing every time I get to be a part of what God is doing in the world. Give thanks to Jesus for his work in and through your life.
We are seeing strange things these days. I called my father who is in his 70's, I asked him, "have you seen anything like this?". His response, "I have never seen anything like this." Let's be the church through this trial. Let's be an anchor of peace and calm through this storm. We must respect our authorities and do as we are asked. This does not keep us from asking, "How may I help you?" Let's be strange, let's be the church, the hope of the world.
